Gang task force arrests 2 after shots fired near DHS

The Coachella Valley Gang Task Force arrested two people in connection to gun shots that were fired in an unincorporated area of south Desert Hot Springs on January, 31.

Authorities said 25-year-old Julian Sanchez and Christina Valdovinos, 19, were taken into custody while leaving the Corkhill Trailer Park, located in the 17900 block of Corkhill Road.

Nobody was hurt from the gunfire.

A officer with the gang task force was patrolling an area nearby when he stopped the suspect’s vehicle to investigate the report of shots fired.

Sanchez, of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested for attempted murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and for violating the terms of his post-release community supervision, according to authorities.

Valdovinos, of Palm Springs, was arrested for being an accessory to the shooting.
