Young girl nearly drowns

(CNS) – A pre-teen girl nearly drowned in a pool in an unincorporated area south of Desert Hot Springs Saturday, authorities said.

Firefighters were called at about 4:30 p.m. to the 70800 block of Dillon Road, said Mark Annas of the Riverside County Fire Department.

“Bystanders pulled the child out of the pool and administered CPR prior to firefighter arrival,” he said.

The girl was in critical condition when she was taken to a hospital, Annas said.

An update on her condition was not immediately available.
