Oliver Stone will attend American Documentary Film Festival

Several Academy Award-winning filmmakers, including three-time Oscar-winner Oliver Stone, will attend the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs next month, organizers said Tuesday.

The festival, which starts March 28, will screen more than 130 films over five days at three locations. The titles will be announced Feb. 20, according to festival organizers.

Beside Stone — who was honored at the 2012 festival — other filmmakers
expected to attend include Oscar winners John Avildsen (Best Director, “Rocky,”), Roger Ross Williams (Best Documentary Short Subject, “Music by Prudence”), Malcolm Clarke (Best Documentary Short Subject, “You Don’t Have To Die”); and Chris Landreth (Best Short Animated Film, “Ryan”). Several other award-winning international filmmakers are expected to attend.

The festival’s March 27 opening gala will be followed by screenings of the documentary “Ndiphilela Ukucula: I Live to Sing” and the animated short “Gloria Victoria.”
