Woman identified in deadly crash on I-10

The woman who was killed in a car crash on eastbound I-10 while heading to the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival over the weekend has been identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Laura Abbott, 52, died after she lost control of her pickup truck that was pulling a trailer around 10 a.m. Sunday. The truck flipped on the interstate just west of Date Palm Drive.

Abbott, a resident of Loma Linda, was part of a caravan from Future Farmers of America.

Abbott’s 20 year old daughter was in the truck as well and was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Eastbound traffic was slowed as crews worked to clean up the accident West of Date Palm from 10am until about 1:45pm Sunday afternoon.

CHP isn’t sure exactly why Abbott lost control of the pickup truck, the crash is under investigation.
