Joan Rivers to join Lucy Pet Foundation in Indio

Another spay and neuter outreach is happening in Indio Friday and Saturday, rain or shine. The free service is provided by Lucy Pet Foundation and Riverside County Animal Services.

The services take place on Friday and Saturday at the City of Indio Municipal Golf Course, located at 83040 Avenue 42 starting at 8 a.m.

Organizers said they will do free vaccines for 500 dogs and spay and neuter 450 more at no cost. Free vaccines, including rabies, will be given to the first 250 dogs each day.

Although surgeries for pets are already pre-booked, Animal Services employees and the Lucy Pet Foundation will be ready to take signups for future spay & neuter outreaches. The outreach is part of an ongoing effort by Riverside County Animal Services to offer solutions to pet owners in need of these valuable services.

Officials said Joan Rivers, who has been a huge supporter of the Lucy Pet Foundation, will join the organization on Saturday at 4 p.m. She’s been helping it spread the word about the overall mission:

To reduce pet overpopulation by having mobile spay/neuter clinics across the county and to support causes that benefit animal welfare.
