Nordstrom Rack opens in Palm Desert
The highly-anticipated Nordstrom Rack is now open at the Town Center Shopping Center at Highway 111 and Town Center Way in Palm Desert.
The store opened early Thursday morning to a crowd of 500 waiting shoppers.
Of those 500, 30 of them scored a $100 gift card, while one lucky winner, Amanda Morton of Redondo Beach, won a $1,000 shopping spree.
Deanna Young from Palm Desert waited nearly 5 hours to be the first in line. She says it’s about time Nordstrom Rack opened in the Coachella Valley.
“I think this is going to be a boom because a lot of these stores, people have asked for. It’s nice to see that they’re responding to what we want down here, and it’ll be a nice trip from one end of one eleven to another, for people looking for things to buy,” said Young.
Rack PR Business Manager Naomi Tobis said the store hired 40-50 part time and full time employees at the new store.
The Rack, located at the old Best Buy, is book-ended by a Whole Foods and Home Goods, both of which have yet to open.
Home Goods is now hiring, and those interested can visit the shopping center. The store will open on March 30th.
Whole Foods will hire 150 new employees, but did not have information on when those positions will be filled, or when the store will open.
