Man arrested for stealing car day after being released from jail

A parolee who was released from county jail on Thursday was arrested Friday morning in Desert Hot Springs after he stole a car, according to police.

Officers were notified of the theft at 7:47 a.m. in the area of Cactus and Hacienda Avenue.

After searching the area, a detective found the vehicle in the 13600 block of Del Ray Lane. The detective saw Julian Sauceda taking softball equipment out of the vehicle.

Sauceda was arrested and has been booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Police said the vehicle and softball equipment was returned to its owner. The softball equipment was from Indio High School.
