Wet ‘n’ Wild splashes into 2014 season, gives back to community

The Wet ‘n’ Wild water park in Palm Springs is officially open for business, and the weather this weekend couldn’t be more ideal for some fun in the sun.

“Who doesn’t want to cool off in a pool? A water park is fun,” said Wet ‘n’ Wild general manager David Andrews Jr.

“It’s actually perfect weather, and the water, it was cold at first, but now it’s the perfect temperature to keep us warm,” said Peyton Jackson, visiting the park from Orange County.

For the park, it wasn’t just an opportunity to show off its polished slides. Wet ‘n’ Wild also dove into giving back to the community, partnering with Find Food Bank.

“Folks that come on down and bring two canned foods we’re offering a $10 discount on admission. We’re really excited, it’s a great way to help the community and kick off our season,” Andrews said.

Getting involved with local causes is just one of the ways the new Wet ‘n’ Wild brand hopes to make a splash in the valley. It’s also offering affordable season passes and upgrading the already-popular attractions.

“People have been coming for years and there’s a lot of great structure here. We are going to be adding our Flow Rider, that’s in progress right now. We’ve got great things coming later this summer,” Andrews said.

And the park’s first customers of the year are more than satisfied. One group of girls drove two hours from Orange County to make waves on their sweet sixteen birthday weekend.

“We went on the wave pool and we went on the ride where it’s like a toilet bowl, I went backwards and it was so much fun. I got splashed and it was cold but then I went back on it and it was so cool,” Jackson said.
