Man recovering after being shot in the head

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the head Tuesday night in Cathedral City. Sgt. Dane Dixon said the shooting happened in the 32400 block of Shifting Sands Trail just after 8 p.m.

Cathedral City police were called after residents in the area reported hearing six shots. Officers found a Hispanic man in his 20’s lying on the ground on the northwest corner of Mission Indian Trail and Shifting Sands Trail.

Sgt. Dixon said the man was conscious but appeared to have been shot once in the head. He was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center.

When officers went to the hospital to interview the man, he was stable and speaking clearly, but wasn’t able to give police any information about the shooting suspect, Dixon said.

There’s currently no description of the shooter or a motive in the shooting but officers did find evidence at the scene.
