Tijuana cop busted smuggling heroin, meth

A Tijuana police officer is accused of illegally transporting over 13 lbs. of heroin and more than 6 lbs. of methamphetamine into the United States.

Noe Raygoza-Garcia was arrested on March, 13, after he was seen driving erratically on I-15 near the Border Patrol checkpoint north of Temecula, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Los Angeles.

The checkpoint is located about 70 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border.

He was stopped by authorities around 11:30 a.m., about two hours after he crossed into the U.S. through the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, court documents stated.

A K9 alerted to his car and Border Patrol agents found the narcotics hidden in the rear seat of his Dodge Neon.

Raygoza-Garcia was indicted on March, 27, on one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine. He’s expected to be arraigned on the indictment Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in federal court in Riverside.

If convicted, Raygoza-Garcia would face a minimum sentence of ten years in federal prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Carlo A. DiCesare said.
