Hazardous Device Team declares item found in front of Palm Springs City Hall not dangerous

The Riverside County Hazardous Device team has declared the item found on the lawn this morning in front of Palm Springs City Hall "not dangerous".

The small group of employees who were evacuated have since returned to their office, and business at and around the building is back to normal.

This was after part of City Hall in Palm Springs was evacuated after what was thought to be a "suspicious device" was found on the front lawn of the building.

City officials tell News Channel 3 that the evacuation was "out of an abundance of caution."

The device was found around 9:00 Wednesday morning. The Riverside County Hazardous Materials Team was called to investigate the scene. The scene was cleared and deemed safe just before noon.
