Man tazed at Indio elementary school

Indio police used a taser device on a man who wandered into Martin Van Buren Elementary School Thursday afternoon.

According to Ben Guitron with the Indio Police Department, the suspect entered the school just before 1 p.m. and went straight to the office area.

The man wasn’t behaving normally so school administrators called police.

Authorities decided to use a Taser on the man for the safety of everyone at the school.

Nobody else was hurt and the suspect was hospitalized for evaluation.

Police did not release his name at the time.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 received messages on Facebook asking about the incident and a few parents called our newsroom saying that some students witnessed the altercation.

The situation was handled quickly and the school wasn’t placed on lockdown.
