The Lucy Pet Foundation offers free microchips, vaccinations

The Lucy Pet Foundation is returning to Indio this weekend to provide a two-day outreach for pet owners in need.

The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April, 5. Microchips and free vaccinations will be provided to the first 250 cats and dogs.

The event will be held at the corner of Miles Avenue and Smurr Street, just next to Indio City Hall.

Dogs generally get their first vaccinations when they are 6-8 weeks-old. Cats are usually vaccinated at 12-13 weeks-old.

The free services are a partnership between The Lucy Pet Foundation, Riverside County Animal Services and the City of Indio.
