Natural gas leak evacuates hotel guests at Rancho Mirage hotel

No injuries reported after three buildings at a Rancho Mirage hotel were evacuated when a natural gas line ruptured.

Dispatchers received a 1:05 p.m. call on Sunday about the damaged gas line at the Westin Mission Hills Resort Hotel on Dinah Shore Drive.

An undisclosed number of guests were sent to the hotel’s club house as firefighters investigated, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

Repairmen were called to fix the gas line, Hagemann said.

Guests were allowed to return to their rooms three hours later, when the all clear was given.
