Hotel fire forces guests to evacuate in Palm Desert

No one was hurt in a fire at the Marriott Shadow Ridge hotel Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the resort shortly before 3:30 p.m. on the 9000 block of Shadow Ridge Road near Monterey Drive and Gerald Ford Drive.

Officials said the fire set off sprinklers in the attic damaging two rooms below, one on the third floor and another directly below it on the second floor.

Guests from 36 rooms were evacuated from the condominium-style resort building.

Firefighters said they would be relocated to other rooms at the resort.

No smoke or flames were ever visible to firefighters.

The fire’s cause remained under investigation.
