Crash snarls traffic on interstate 10 in Banning

Two trucks crashed on Interstate 10 in Banning early Sunday, and left one woman with moderate injuries trapped in the wreckage.

Firefighters were dispatched at 3:58 a.m. to the eastbound lanes of the freeway, approaching the Sunset Avenue off-ramp, where they used cutting tools to free the woman and another person from one of the trucks. The injured woman was flown to a hospital for treatment, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

The predawn crash may have involved a tow truck. It snarled traffic on eastbound Interstate 10 and nearby Route 60 for several hours, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
