Wind gusts drive fire in San Bernadino Mountains
Dry, gusty Santa Ana winds are fanning a wildfire in the foothills of Southern California’s San Bernardino Mountains.
KTTV reports the blaze broke out Wednesday morning near the North Etiwanda Preserve north of Rancho Cucamonga.
The flames are chewing through dry brush in a rural area north of the 210 Freeway. Fire crews are responding.
The fire is not burning near homes but winds from the northeast are pushing flames down toward foothill communities. Santa Ana winds, unseasonably high temperatures and low relative humidity have raised wildfire concerns across Southern California.
Red flag warnings of high fire danger have been posted by the National Weather Service for much of the region.
