Tesla set to open sales & service center in Cathedral City
Electric automaker Tesla Motors will open its first sales and service center in the Coachella Valley today.
The grand opening of Tesla Palm Springs is at 10 a.m. at 68080 Perez Road in Cathedral City — the former site of a Hyundai dealership in the Cathedral City Auto Center.
The facility is the only Tesla center in the Coachella Valley, according to the company’s website.
Appointments to test drive a Tesla Model S at the grand opening may be scheduled online at .
Tesla was started in 2003 by PayPal co-founder Elon Musk, who is planning a giant Tesla battery cell factory at a location to be announced.
Tesla also makes a Roadster sports car and is coming out with an SUV, the Model X, next year.
