Wind Advisory in effect for the Coachella Valley and mountain areas until Wednesday

An approaching storm system will bring periods of strong and gusty winds to Southern California though Wednesday. Gusts could top 60 mph.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Coachella Valley, as well as the mountain areas in Riverside, San Diego, and San Bernarindo counties until Wednesday at 3 AM. Sustained winds of 25-35 mph are expected, with gusts up to 60 mph possible in the wind prone areas. Blowing dust and sand is likely and could cause difficult driving conditions.

The strongest gusts are expected during the evenings through the morning hours both on Monday and Tuesday. Winds are expected to weaken considerably by Wednesday afternoon.

* LOCATION…NEAR MOUNTAIN RIDGE TOPS AND DESERT MOUNTAIN
SLOPES INTO ADJACENT DESERT AREAS. STRONGEST GUSTS BELOW THE
BANNING PASS AND THE DESERT SLOPES OF THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY
MOUNTAINS.

* VISIBILITY…LOCALLY REDUCED IN THE DESERTS DUE TO BLOWING
SAND AND DUST.

* IMPACTS…THE WINDS WILL MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR
MOTORISTS WITH HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. WATCH FOR BROKEN TREE
LIMBS AND OTHER DEBRIS ON ROADWAYS.
