Sex offender nabbed by Border Patrol

A convicted sex offender was arrested by Border Patrol agents on Sunday as he tried to cross into the U.S. illegally.

Agents said 32-year-old Alejandro Chavez Aguilera was captured around 10:20 a.m. near Mount Signal Road. He was found guilty of 4th degree criminal sexual conduct in Grand Haven, Michigan.

According to authorities, Chavez Aguilera has also been convicted multiple times for illegal entry into the U.S. after previously being removed.

He was arrested and is being held at the Imperial County Jail as he awaits federal prosecution.
