Suspicious deaths in Indian Wells deemed murder/suicide

Authorities have finished their preliminary investigation after two people were found dead at a home in the Indian Wells Country Club in the early hours of May 16.

According to the Indian Wells Police Department, all evidence indicates that it was a case of murder/suicide. The suspect was identified as 75-year-old Gail Temple, a resident of Indian Wells.

Police said they believe she killed 74-year-old Robert Small, who lived in Rancho Mirage.

Authorities received the call at about 4:10 a.m. When they arrived to the home, located in the 77-300 block of Sioux Drive, Small was dead from a gunshot wound.

Police said Temple was still alive and suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is asking for anyone with information regarding the case to contact Investigator Alfaro of the Central Homicide Unit at (760) 393-3528.
