Police search for suspect after UC Riverside student says she was kidnapped

A UC Riverside student told police she was kidnapped by a man while inside a University parking structure, tied up and driven around before the abductor returned her to the garage, police said today.

The student contacted police around 4:15 p.m. Sunday to report that a man “grabbed her and forcibly placed her into his vehicle” while she was inside the University Towers Parking garage at 3500 Iowa Ave., said Riverside police Sgt. Jeff Spencer.

“The female was bound and driven around before being returned to the parking garage,” Spencer said.

The suspect was described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s dressed entirely in black clothing with medium-length dirty blonde hair, the sergeant said.

The man’s car was described as a 2009 or newer charcoal gray four-door Nissan Sentra, Spencer said.

Detectives began their investigation at the kidnap scene and were urging anyone with information to contact Riverside police Det. Rick Wheeler at (951) 353-7134 or Det. Rick Cobb at (951) 353-7135.
