Sheriff’s helicopter crashes at Hemet-Ryan Airport

A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter has crashed at Hemet-Ryan Airport Thursday morning, according to Deputy Munoz.

The crash happened at about 11 a.m.

Munoz said the sheriff department’s aviation unit was conducting training exercises when the helicopter crashed on the runway. The pilot was flying low to the ground when the crash occurred.

There were only minor injuries reported and those flying in the helicopter were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the FAA.
