Attempted rape suspect turns himself in

A man who was accused of attempted rape in Twentynine Palms on August 16 turned himself in to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were searching for 29 year old Lynel Serek Roduk after a woman identified him as the man who attempted to rape her.

According to deputies in San Bernardino, Roduk called them on Tuesday, September 2, asking if he had a warrant out for his arrest. Deputies confirmed that he was wanted, and Roduk told them he was going to turn himself in to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, but he wouldn’t disclose his location.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station confirmed Roduk had in fact turned himself in at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Palmdale station, according to a release.

He was then transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles where he awaits transport back to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

His bail is set at $250,000.

The victim said she was standing in her friend’s front yard in Twentynine Palms when she was approached by Roduk. He allegedly pulled a knife on her and directed her away from the home, where he held her down and tried to rape her.

When the victim’s friends came looking for her, she was able to kick Roduk in the face and run away.
