CANCELED: Amber Alert issued in Riverside County for five-year-old boy

UPDATE: CHP says the boy was found safely with family in Lancaster.

The California Highway Patrol has activated an amber alert at the request of the National City police department.

The Amber Alers spans through Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

On September 6, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., Johnnie Melendez was abducted from National City, San Diego County.

Johnnie Melendez is a 5-year-old, hispanic male, standing 4’0″ tall, weighing 80 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a Batman t-shirt, striped boxer shorts, and slippers with “SD” printed on them.

The suspect is Gladys Suarez, a 27-year-old, hispanic female, standing 4’11” tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black tank top, blue capri pants, and tan moccasin-type slippers.

There is no vehicle information available at this time.
