CVUSD unveils new “Mighty Arab” mascot
Officials from the Coachella Valley Unified School District unveiled the new “Mighty Arab” mascot for Coachella Valley High School tonight during the closed session of a scheduled district meeting.
School officials say the mascot was chosen from one of three student submitted ideas.
The Arab mascot had been under fire after the National Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee took offense to the image.
School officials say due process was followed, with the new mascot being approved through every level, from Coachella Valley High School, to district officials.
The “Mighty Arab” will be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.
