Two Indio police officers under investigation

Two Indio Police officers are on paid administrative leave and are being investigated for their roles in an early morning arrest on September 12th.

Indio Police opened an investigation into that arrest and requested the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to conduct an independent investigation into any possible criminal conduct by the officers. Indio Police say the findings of that investigation will be forwarded to the Riverside County District Attorney for review.

Indio Police Chief Richard Twiss said in a statement, “We take these allegations seriously and appreciate the trust and confidence the reporting party has in the Indio Police Department to report their concerns to us. We have a duty and responsibility to investigate these allegations and that process began immediately.”

The statement didn’t include an explanation of why the case is being investigated. It only alludes to an allegation of misconduct.

One of the officers has been with the department for 4 years. The other officer as been with the department for 7 months.
