Miramar air show in San Diego takes to skies again
A year after its wings were clipped because of federal budget cuts, the Miramar Air Show in San Diego is taking to the skies again.
U-T San Diego reports the annual show, dubbed the nation’s largest military air fest, starts Friday and continues through the weekend.
It typically attracts more than a half-million people.
In 2013 the event was canceled one day before show time amid the federal budget crisis and sequestration.
The newspaper says it was the first hiatus for the flight show since 2001 and the aftermath of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks.
This year’s show will feature the Blue Angels U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
