Monaco royals visit Coachella Valley

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco are in the Coachella Valley.

Saturday the couple visited the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center in Rancho Mirage.

The center provides care and services for young people who have suffered physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Mrs. Sinatra was on hand to greet and tour with the couple. The couple also met with staff and administrators to learn more about the center.

“Princess Charlene, her foundation deals with youth and childhood and you know she’s going to be a mother in a couple months, so I think it all came together,” says John Thorensen, Director for the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center. “The fact that they were here, they wanted to honor what we do here by making a visit.”

The Prince’s namesake foundation held a conference Saturday at the Sunnylands Estate in Rancho Mirage, focusing on the environment and rising sea levels.

Sunday the royal couple will host an awards ceremony at the estate honoring a number of top oceanic researchers.

This is the first time the Prince’s foundation ceremony will be held in the United States.
