Police look for man who tried to kidnap 16-year-old girl in San Jacinto

A 16-year-old girl in San Jacinto told deputies a Hispanic man in his early 20’s grabbed her and tried to carry her away while she was walking home from North Mountain High School Wednesday afternoon.

The attempted kidnapping happened at about 12:15 p.m. on Sagecrest Drive and Chase Street, according to the San Jacinto Police Department.

The victim said she noticed a newer, red four-door compact car following her. The vehicle stopped behind her and the suspect began to follow her on foot.

She said the man was Hispanic, in his early 20’s, six-feet tall and weighed about 230 lbs. He had brown hair and was wearing thick black-framed reading glasses.

The girl told deputies she screamed for help when the man was attempting to carry her away from the area, and that’s when he dropped her and ran back to his car.

Another student came to help the victim and called 911.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes someone may recognize him.
