Sheriff deputy discharges weapon during search for suspect

Riverside County sheriff investigators have arrested a man they say led them on a foot pursuit through one Coachella neighborhood late Wednesday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Spokesman Deputy Albert Martinez, deputies were attempting to make contact with a wanted suspect on Genoa Street near Nile Lane around 4:30 p.m. The suspect took off on foot but was later spotted by a homeowner on Sylmar Lane, who flagged down deputies. The homeowner said she believed the man was in her home.

During the search of the home, a deputy discharged his weapon but nobody was hurt. They located the suspect and took him into custody. An investigation is ongoing.
