Motorcyclist killed in HWY 74 crash ID’d

Northbound and southbound Highway 74 was closed near Bursera Way while authorities investigated a deadly motorcycle crash that took place early Friday morning.

According to officials with Cal Fire, the crash happened at about 7 a.m. The person killed in the crash has been identified as 26-year-old Uriel Garcia. Neighbors tell us his wife is pregnant.

Highway 74 was closed in both directions between Shadow Mountain Drive and Haystack Road. The highway was expected to reopen around 1 p.m. Drivers were still able to travel up the mountain as officers rerouted them through side streets.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
