Flooring Innovations uses TV spot to promote local charities
In a Flooring Innovations infomercial, you may expect to hear about their latest carpet or tile.
“I figured people are probably tired of seeing my mug every Sunday,” Flooring Innovations president Bill Nicholson said.
What you may not expect – the company to give away its paid airtime.
“I thought it would be a good opportunity to give that airtime to local charities that have needs,” he said.
Nicholson’s involvement with the Barbara Sinatra Center For Abused Children sparked an idea.
“I’m a board member and a few years ago Mrs. Sinatra and I did a commercial promoting the center and their response was fantastic. That has initiated this philanthro-mercial. Dedicating 30 minutes of airtime to local charities,” Nicholson said.
We Care Dental and the Stroke Recovery Center are a couple of those featured. He says it’s giving non-profits one of the things they need the most – exposure.
“Particularly for snowbirds that come to town to get to see all the things done in the desert,”
This philanthro-mercial with these charities runs every other Sunday morning.
“There are over 100 charities I encourage people to find one that is near and dear to your heart whether it’s time, talent, or financially. Not everyone has all three to give. I try to do time. When it comes to financial there are other people better suited,” he added.
Everyone can offer something.
