Vampire facial uses own blood to look younger
Imagine smoothing wrinkles and lines and never going under the knife.
“A natural glow; an uplift. Fresh look, sun-kissed. Also helps with fine lines and wrinkles,” Dr. Nicole Ortiz of the Live Well Clinic said.
This treatment’s not for the faint of heart.
“There are a lot of celebrities that do it, it caught my eye. Vampire facial sound scary I looked into it. It’s a natural way, not using surgery, to get this result that’s much like a severe procedure,” Ortiz said.
Kim Kardashian first put the vampire facial on the map in an episode of her family’s TV show.
Her screams and a bloody picture she posted on social media scared many people.
I decided to see for myself – is it just another Hollywood fad or a natural way to keep our toes dipped in the fountain of youth? Two days before Halloween, I went to the Live Well clinic in La Quinta for my very own vampire facial.
“We numb the face, after we take your blood then we it it in centrifuge. Spin it down,” she said.
That isolates the plasma. Using numbing cream and a very small needle, Dr. Nicole Ortiz injected my plasma into my face.
It was a bit uncomfortable, but not very painful.
“It triggers a healing reaction to create new skin … healthy skin, new skin, young skin,” Ortiz said.
I learned Kim Kardashian’s doctor used more needles and a more aggressive approach, hence all the blood. I walked away with a sun burnt feeling that later turned to a glow.
“Normally when you’re done you have serum on your face, maybe a red punctate from the injection. It’s natural, you can go on with your day,” she said.
This LA trend caught fire in the desert, specifically with Crista Collins.
“I have noticed my skin tone more even, I can wear less makeup, and the fine lines diminished,” Collins said.
From celebrities to us regular people, more women are turning to blood to look red carpet ready.
