Teen arrested for threatening Menifee school
A 17-year-old Paloma Valley High School student has been arrested for making telephone threats against the school, authorities said Friday.
Just after noon on Wednesday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Emergency 911 Center fielded a cellular call from someone making a threat against an unknown location in Menifee, prompting an investigation into who made the call, said sheriff’s Sgt. David Douglas.
A similar call was made to the sheriff’s department on Thursday, this time with unspecified threats made against Paloma Valley High School, he said.
The investigation was then focused on the high school, where extra patrols were deployed as a precaution, Douglas said.
“The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old Paloma Valley High School student at 1 p.m.,” he said. “The student was arrested for making threats against the school and was later booked into Juvenile Hall.”
Because of the threats, officers searched the student’s home for “potential evidence,” Douglas said, but it was unclear if anything was found at the residence.
The student’s gender was not revealed.
