Hobby Lobby, Stein Mart coming to Rancho Mirage
Two major retailers are being added to the Rancho Las Palmas Shopping Center on the corner of Highway 111 and Bob Hope Dr.
Crews in Rancho Mirage are continuing the the largest construction project the city has had in the last 10 years.
“The City Council is delighted that only months into the refurbishment of Rancho Las Palmas Shopping Center, 83 percent of the available spaces have been leased. After years of less than 50 percent occupancy at the Center, this is great news for our residents and the City”, said Council Member Ted Weill.

The 30,000-square-foot Stein Mart will be going into the space that was once occupied by a Vons market.
The 48,000-square-foot Hobby Lobby will be built where the CVS Pharmacy currently stands, and the CVS will move into a brand new building closer to Hwy 111 and have a 24 hour drive thru pharmacy window.
“I remember when this all was filled up all the stores, and then all of a sudden they went vacant, and they stayed like that for a long time, so it’s nice to see that they are going to be using them again bringing in new stores,” said Brienna Holguin who often shops in the area.
“Hobby Lobby is going to employ a lot of people, Stein Mart will employ a lot of people, there will be a restaurant, that will be announced shortly, the employment force in center will be significant,” said Weill.
By April construction of the new CVS building should begin, along with tenant improvements and facade treatments throughout the center.
This summer offsite improvements should start, including a new right-in/right-out on Highway 111.
“There’s going to be new access into the center from 111, there will be a new corridor so you can enter the center from 111 and when you exit on Bob Hope previously you only able to make a right turn, now you’ll be able to make a left and right turn to go back up to 111,” said Weill.
The addition of these retailers will be a boost to the local economy.
“The revenue from the city is generated primarily, by sales tax an tot transient occupancy tax from the hotels, the amount of sales tax we anticipate from this center will be significant,” said Weill.
By summer of 2016 all the anchor stores should be open for business.
