More of Spa Hotel comes down

Construction crews are back on site at the Spa Hotel in Palm Springs.

According to Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribe Spokeswoman Kate Anderson, “The dismantling of the structures that remain standing at the old Spa Hotel site, located on Tahquitz Canyon and Indian Canyon has begun.”

“The project is expected to last several weeks, and the tribe expects to have the demo completed by late Summer or early Fall,” says Anderson.

The tribe has also committed to recycling 85 percent, or more, of the materials from the site. Anderson believes they will reach that goal. Crews are sorting the demo materials by placing them in piles for recycling and will be removed at a later date.

“The Tribe is also continuing to make improvements around the hot mineral springs located on the site,” says Anderson.

The Tribe is still very tight lipped about what will replace the old Spa Hotel. “We have not released any plans of future development on the site at this time,” says Anderson. “We are currently still in the envisioning and Master Planning stages.”
