Man sought after attempting to rob Jack in the Box

The Coachella Police Department is looking for a man who attempted to rob the Jack in the Box at Harrison Street and Avenue 52 on Thursday night. The man ended up running away empty-handed because an employee was unable to open the cash register, according to police.

The attempted robbery was reported at 7:35 p.m.

Witnesses told police the man approached an employee behind the counter, simulated a weapon and demanded cash. When the employee couldn’t open the register, the man fled from the restaurant out the south doors.

He was last seen jumping the wall onto Jennifer Way and running southbound, according to the release. Witnesses said the man was Hispanic, between 20 to 30 years old, and he was wearing a light-colored hooded-sweatshirt.

Officer said nobody was injured in the attempted robbery.
