Rescue Mission now operates as Cooling Center

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is now operating as a Cool Center every day from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as temperatures start to heat up in the desert. Officials said water and snacks will be available to the public.

The Cooling Centers generally operate any day when the temperature is above 90 degrees, so they will be open for the next few months.

“It’s a big responsibility to not just house our residents, but to provide emergency services overnight as well as during the day through the Cool Center designation,” said Development Manager Scott Wolf. “And with many of our larger donors out-of-town for the summer, we are really relying on full time residents to help provide resources and support in these areas.”

As part of their designation as a Cool Center, the Rescue Mission is looking for residents who will help support these efforts by donating online at cvrm.org.

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is located at 47470 Van Buren Street in Indio.
