Prepare your air conditioning units for scorching summer heat

The scorching triple digit heat has struck our desert and with summer kicking off, an effective air conditioning unit is a must.

The hot months spark a busy season for General Air Conditioning & Heating in Thousand Palms.

“The heat is here, for us that means the phones are ringing like crazy. It’s nonstop. We have people in the office from 6 a.m. to 11 at night,” said general manager Patrick Somers.

There are a few things you can do to get your AC units in tip-top shape.

Clean your filter. A dirty or clogged filter can cause a lot of problems.

“If the filter’s dirty it restricts the air flow, it cuts down on the capacity of the system,”
said Somers.

Clean your AC condenser coil.

“You want to make sure that’s clean otherwise you’ll get a backup and a leak situation, especially if the unit is in your attic,” said Somers.

Get a good tune up. Have a technician come check all of the systems, the refrigerant side and electrical.

Take appropriate measures now to avoid an air conditioning emergency this summer.
