District Attorney will make decision in Whitewater case

Update: DA’s office files charges against suspect

Riverside County Animal Services is recommending charges against a man accused in the death of a dog in Whitewater.

Neighbors say the man hit a dog named “Rusty” repeatedly over the head with a shovel and then dumped him in a field behind his home.

It happened back on June 8th on Kimdale Drive.

Rusty was taken to a veterinary medical center in Indio where he couldn’t be saved.

The case is now in the hands of the District Attorney who will decide whether to file charges.

The suspect isn’t being named.

His identity will be released if he’s charged.
