President Obama arrives for 5th visit to the Coachella Valley

President Obama arrived in the Coachella Valley Saturday Morning, he arrived just after 11:00 a.m. at Palm Springs International Airport.

Congressman Raul Ruiz, Agua Caliente Tribal Chairman Jeff Grubbe and Rancho Mirage Mayor Dana Hobart and his wife greeted the President at the Airport. Palm Springs City Manager David Ready confirmed that Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet would not be part of the greeting party, because he is on his family vacation.

The President was escorted, to a small crowd awaiting his arrival, by Congressman Raul Ruiz, to meet the Congressman’s growing family. The President held both daughters Sky and Sage, who are both nearly 3 months old, and posed for a family photo which included Ruiz’s wife Monica.

The motorcade left the airport and later arrived at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, where the President is expected to play a round of golf. According to the pool reporters, traveling with the President, his golf partners are Bobby Titcomb, Greg Orme, and Mike Ramos.

Street closures for the president’s visit began Friday and are scheduled to continue until Monday morning, although the President is expected to leave the area Sunday afternoon.

The following streets will be closed until 7 a.m. Monday:

— Kirk Douglas Way, between Ramon and El Cielo roads
— Airport Center Drive at Kirk Douglas Way.

Palm Springs International Airport can be accessed from the Tahquitz Canyon Way-El Cielo Road entrance.
