Heat Advisory in effect through Sunday for the Coachella Valley. Excessive Heat Warnings for areas south and east.
A strong ridge of high pressure will bring potentially excessive heat to the lower deserts through the end of week, possibly extending into the weekend.
High temperatures 108-116 will be possible through Sunday. A heat advisory is in effect for the low deserts in the Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass through Sunday evening. An excessive heat warning may be issued toward the end of the week.
An excessive heat warning is in effect for areas east and south in Riverside and Imperial counties. High temperatures 110-116 are expected with overnight lows possibly not dipping below the mid 80’s.
An excessive heat watch is in effect for the high desert cities in the Mojave desert from Thursday at 10 am through Monday at 11 pm.
Avoid strenuous outdoor activity if possible. If youhave to be outside drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated fluids. Wear lightweight loose-fitting clothing. Wear a hat to shield yourself from the sun and use sun screento reduce possible sunburn. Take advantage of air conditioningand shade if possible. Never leave children or pets in enclosedvehicles, even briefly.
