4th of July events held around Coachella Valley

Fourth of July celebrations were held all throughout the Coachella Valley, with some of the larger shows taking place in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs and Indio.

The events in Palm Springs and Palm Desert featured firework spectaculars and fun for the whole family in the form of baseball and live music.

But the first fireworks display in the Coachella Valley, hosted by Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino, took place on Thursday, July 2 at 9 p.m. The fireworks were launched at Eagle Falls Golf Course, located at 84-245 Indio Springs Parkway.

Palm Springs ‘All American Fourth of July’:

Communications Director Amy Blaisdell said fireworks and Palm Springs Power Baseball was on the schedule at Palm Springs Stadium. Free admission to the fireworks show began at 8 p.m. and the show started at 9:15 p.m.

Everyone was invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs and sit on the field, located at 1901 E. Baristo Road.

The Palm Springs Power took on the San Francisco Seals at 6:05 p.m., and pleased the 4th of July crowd with a 6-3 win.

The community was also invited to cool off by hopping in the pool at Palm Springs Pavilion, 401 S. Pavilion Way, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“When it comes to celebrating Independence Day, Palm Springs does it like no place else,” says Mary Jo Ginther, director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism.

Palm Desert’s 4th of July Celebration:

Spokesman David Hermann said Palm Desert’s free Independence Day celebration featured live music, fireworks and more fun at Civic Center Park. The celebration began at 7:30 p.m.

The event was also open to residents of Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells. Officials said the two cities helped finance this year’s celebration.

The Swing Cats Big Band kicked off the fun with a performance featuring a variety of popular swing and big band favorites.

After the concert, the sky lit up with fireworks at 9 p.m. with a spectacular 20-minute-long fireworks display synchronized to a new selection of contemporary and classic patriotic-themed songs on The Mix 100.5, Hermann said in the release.

The community was encouraged to bring picnic dinners, blankets and chairs to enjoy the show.

Hermann said drinks and snacks were available to purchase at Civic Center Park and at the neighboring Palm Desert Aquatic Center.

The Palm Desert Aquatic Center extended its hours to 10 p.m. to give guests an opportunity to swim and watch the Civic Center Park fireworks display while cooling off in the pool.

Agua Caliente Casino Resort & Spa hosted a free fireworks show at the corner of Bob Hope Drive and Ramon Road on the 4th of July beginning at 9 p.m.
