Paraglider seriously injured after crashing near San Jacinto

A man was seriously injured Wednesday in a paraglider crash in a hilly area near San Jacinto, authorities said.

The accident was reported about 9:40 a.m. at Flight Park Paragliding, 255 Soboba Road, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman April Newman said. Firefighters found the glider about 500 feet up a hill and the pilot conscious and alert, but complaining of extreme pain, she said.

A helicopter was used to hoist the unidentified victim from the hillside. A waiting air ambulance then took the man to a hospital with what were described as major injuries.
