Pines Fire burns 200 acres, 5 percent contained

The Pines Fire was reported around 9:40 p.m. Friday along the Angeles Crest Highway. The fire burned 200 acres and is 5% contained Saturday.

Approximately 150 firefighters are on scene. Highway 2 from Wrightwood to Big pines is closed.

Some organization camps including a Girl Scout Camp were evacuated in addition to Apple Tree, Lion, Verdugo and Peavin Camp Grounds. LA County Sheriff’s Palmdale Station has established an evacuation center at Serrano High School in Phelin, 9292 Sheep Creek Road.

Evacuations remain in effect and additional evacuations of camp grounds in the path of the fire are being assessed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
