Palm Desert woman killed in Highway 74 crash

A woman who was killed when her car fell about 40 feet off a highway near Mountain Center was identified Saturday.

Anna Hicks of Palm Desert, 24, died at the scene of the Friday morning crash, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened at 2:13 a.m. on the Pines to Palms (74) Highway at Mile Marker 81. Hicks died at the scene at 2:35 a.m., according to the Coroner’s Office.

Two passengers in the vehicle were able to exit under their own power and did not suffer injuries, according to Jennifer Fuhrman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash.
