Animal Services offers free dog training classes this week

Riverside County Animal Services is offering free dog training workshops this week.

Experienced dog behaviorist and trainer Jason Rae has volunteered his time to deliver the valuable workshops to dog owners, according to John Welsh with animal services. But dog owners are asked to leave their pets at home; the workshops are only for humans at this time.

The first workshops took place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, located at 581 S. Grand Avenue in San Jacinto. The second workshop is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus at 72050 Pet Land Place in Thousand Palms.

Officials said these training classes were founded on the principle of giving dog owners the information they need for a better relationship with their pet, and ultimately keeping them out of shelters.

For more information about the workshops, you can call (951) 358-7295.

The workshop tours are made possible by a joint collaboration between dog trainer Jason Rae and the Department of Animal Services. According to the release, Rae is also the founder of strutmymutt.com.
