Transient linked to six high desert burglaries

San Bernadino County Sheriffs Deputies say a transient is now linked to six break-ins in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree.

Deputies arrested Corey Barnes, 32, Saturday saying they found him sleeping in model home on the 7300 block of Village Way where he had caused $1,000 in damage.

An investigation that day led authorities to believe Barnes had also burglarized a nearby pawn shop, Gateway Pawn Shop, the day before on the 56400 block of Twentynine Palms Highway.

Authorities say a further investigation this week has now tied Barnes to six crimes including residential and commercial burglaries and vandalism in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree.

Barnes remains in custody, his bail increased from $25,000 to $75,000.
