Indio man considered “at risk & missing” found safe

A Navy veteran who went missing Saturday returned home Sunday following a day’s search, according to the Indio Police Department. Walter Sanford, 32, returned home safely and was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation, said Sgt. Daniel Marshall of the Indio Police Department.

Family members first reported him missing around 11:30 a.m. Saturday and told police Sanford was a danger to himself and needed to be found immediately.
